Professor Finlay named 2022-23 UGA Service-Learning Fellow
Professor Carlo Finlay is one of eight UGA instructors in the 2022-23 class of UGA Service-Learning Fellows. This year-long faculty program provides development opportunities for selected faculty members to learn best practices in service-learning and community engagement, and to integrate service-learning into their teaching.
Finlay’s service-learning project will be based on the work students do in his Social/Digital Media Production for Sports class. Students in the class partner with Clarke Central High School in Athens and use social media to tell stories that would otherwise not be told. By becoming embedded within the Clarke Central community, these students are able to gain a deeper understanding of the Athens area
