Professor Andy Johnston continues Carmical Institute instruction
Professor Andy Johnston joined us last year to teach a section of Multiplatform Storytelling for Sports in Fall 2021 and a section of Introduction to Sports Reporting and Writing in Spring 2022. He continues with those teaching assignments this academic year. He is also the editor of The Oglethorpe Echo, where he leads a team of journalism students and interns who are revitalizing the 148-year old newspaper to serve Oglethorpe County residents.
His journalism experience includes sports reporting and editing jobs with The Augusta Chronicle, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Associated Press, Fox Sports, CNN/SI and the Athens Banner-Herald, among other prominent media outlets.
Andy and his wife, Lori (who also teaches in the College of Journalism), co-founded and operate Fast Copy Communications, a freelance writing and editing company that has provided thousands of pieces of content to newspapers, magazines and websites.
Andy Johnston is a 1988 alumnus of UGA. He completed his Master’s Degree in Emerging Media in 2021.
