Industry demand for college graduates with sports-specific media skills is strong. Sports online publications are growing, and new sports broadcast networks are forming. Sports teams and organizations are producing more of their own social and digital content every day. We offer a six-course Sports Media Certificate for UGA undergraduates, regardless of major. In our Sports Media Certificate classes, you will learn how to find and tell the compelling stories that media outlets and sports organizations want.
Students in the Sports Media Certificate program:
      • Study how media affects sports, how sports affect media, and how they both affect cultural and societal change.

      • Learn how the relationships among athletes, coaches, sports administrators, sports organizations and the media have evolved, especially in the age of social and digital media.

      • Acquire journalistic skills with a multimedia- and innovation-oriented mindset.

      • Pursue their particular interests in sports media, whether that’s broadcasting and production, social and digital media, communications, or beat reporting and writing.

      • Gain real-world experience throughout their time in the program, including a capstone internship in their area of interest.

Students cover a variety of sports from prep to professional.
